The power of your intent leads you around the sacred wheel of endeavor. Begin today with trust and innocence in the early hours. Imagine a quiet pond, and see the reflection of your true self. At noon, take a moment to close your eyes and dream. Image the transformation that this day offers you. Seek the strength and wisdom, through your ability to love, to bring this transformation into action and into the words you speak. At night give thanks for the illumination you have found. Know that the form of your intent leads you to the power of transformation.   (“Transformation” card, The Power Deck, Cards of Wisdom)

Dear Friends,

What do you feel your life is like these days? Are you satisfied with what you have created, or do you feel that your path is not as you would intend it to be? Take the time now, to envision where you would like to go, where you would like to be, how you would like to act, feel, and be.

When I first began my journey with Agnes Whistling Elk and Ruby Plenty Chiefs, I had no idea where my path would take me. I had yearned since I was a small child for a stronger sense of the Divine in my life, the Great Spirit, God or Goddess, however you conceive of the sacred divine. I had also felt that I had a destiny to fulfill, and yet I couldn’t name what it was if my life depended on it.

What I didn’t realize until Agnes kicked me out of her cabin in the far north of Canada (after I had already rented out my California home), was that I was a writer who was not writing. I had gone to Canada to spend a year studying and working with Agnes and Ruby. I got there, only to be sent packing, told not to return until I had written my first book about our work together.

At the time, I was so angry that I couldn’t do anything but what Agnes had instructed me to do: go write my first book. I don’t know which was more terrifying, the prospect of being without a home or the thought of actually writing a book. All I knew was that Agnes and Ruby had brought me closer to a sense of my wholeness for the first time in my life, and that was not something I was willing to give up to my temper tantrum.

As I began work on that book, in a small wooden cabin back in California, I realized that my life had begun to transform. That feeling of emptiness I had always experienced was gone. As I got deeper and deeper into the writing of my first book, MEDICINE WOMAN, I realized that my life was transforming again. In facing down my worst fears, creating my own real act of power, instead, I was becoming a new person. I want you to know this with absolute certainty: if I can do it, so can you.

Now is the time. So gather your confidence and begin work on your own act of power now, the sacred painting of your life. Fill the gourd of your spirit with knowledge about what it is you are seeking to do and what it is going to take to make it happen. Consider the true importance of what you are gathering and become one with all of life. That is when you truly open to the infinite power of the universe and allow it to come into you.

What would it feel like if you could create whatever it is you truly want to create in life? Feel that feeling with your whole body. Intend something grand and wonderful for yourself, and plant the seeds within yourself for it to begin to grow. Close your eyes and feel what it would be like to be standing in the middle of your wondrous, manifested act of power.

Keeping your eyes closed, feel the seed within you begin to grow. As it grows, a spark begins to build within you. That spark is what ignites your inner flame, the flame of your life force, that unseen force that is part of the Great Spirit and part of you and animates your entire being. When your passion for your act of power and the creativity with which you begin to manifest it meet in your center, a spark is created. This spark ignites your inner flame and catapults you into inspiration, which lives in the north of the sacred wheel. You take this inspiration and the passion and creativity that animate it, and bring it into the south, the physical world, where you begin actual work on this great act of which you have dreamt for so long.

Your life has meaning. Your life has purpose. Your life is like no other. So dream the possibilities of your life alive within you. Always remember, if you can dream it, you can do it. Dream well. Dream beautiful thoughts and intend only the best for yourself. Allow the Great Spirit and our magnificent Earth Mother to reside within you, to nurture you and help you transform and give birth to the wonderful seeds of power and manifestation you have planted.

Great Mother, as we see you at the heart of our world, we give thanks to you for our life force and the gifts of our physical being. With this gift of life, you have presented us with mirrors of existence that elevate our soul toward the highest light.

Every day we are faced with these reflections, and they bring us great pain and great joy. In our pain, we forget we are on a great journey. We struggle within the confines of our ignorance, desperately searching for a way to tear away the veils that cloud our vision.

Great Mother, help us on our journey of discovery. Give us the power to continue to seek. Help us to find joy and courage as we navigate through the dense fog of confusion.

Help us, Great Mother, to understand your needs and what it takes to heal your precious body. In our commitment to you, we make a commitment to ourselves, to our own enlightenment, to our own process of forgiveness and wisdom. In this forgiveness, I make a pledge from my heart to find an end to this weakness and pain, to find a harmony and a balance so that we may more successfully walk with a foot in the physical and a foot in spirit.

Oh Great Mother, I humble myself to your power. At this moment, I visualize golden white light surrounding me and enabling me to move into my shaman center, into my place of power, a perfect reflection of your innocence. I see the shield that you carry shining like a beacon in the darkness. Your shield is made of trust and faith: trust that each and every one of us will build a rainbow bridge across the abyss of darkness. Faith symbolized by each of us crossing that bridge, held forever in your light.

Great Spirit, there is an enormous chasm between those two statements. Most of us spend lifetimes bridging that gap.

Begin work on the sacred painting of your life, your magnificent acts of power, now, and know that the prayers of the Sisterhood of the Shields are with you.

In love and spirit,
Lynn

I hope you will all join me in Hawaii this December 1-4, as we stand on the shores of the majestic Pacific Ocean to find our spiritual life force and discover how a new point of view can change your world forever. You will pick up the bow of your inner authority and learn to shoot the arrow of your intent directly into the center of your target as you hone the edge of your sense of purpose in life and take down the fences that block your view... all amid the natural beauty and power of the Kohala coastline on the Big Island of Hawaii.
